Five Ten loved what it had going with its original Freerider shoe so much that it decided more riders could benefit from the shoe if it made a few tweaks and changes to the design. More than a few tweaks and changes later the Freerider line has grown considerably and the Freerider ELC Mens Shoe was born out of a desire to make a version capable of handling the demands of destructive all-mountain and enduro terrain. To do this the designers at Five Ten started with the midsole stiffening it more than the original Freerider into a rigid platform ready to transfer power without wasting hard-earned watts giving you license to blast through tight and twisty lines and take big hits while maintaining a strong connection to the pedals. On the outside of the shoe an upper made from a mix of synthetic and leather panels comes complete with a polyurethane coating giving the Freerider ELC plenty of reinforcement for the times you dump your bike flying around a gravelly switchback. To give the shoe a slim contoured fit around your foot Five Ten gave the Freerider a lace-up closure but protected it from mud and debris with a wide hook-and-loop strap that closes over the top. Of course Five Ten finishes the shoe with its popular non-marking Stealth Phantom rubber outsole and Dotty tread making sure youll have some traction during tight sections necessitating quick thinking and walking only.
